About Corsica Ferries
Corsica Ferries is the line behind the yellow ships. In 1968, Pascal Lota from Bastia founded the company under the name Corsica Line, with a single ship running between Italy and Corsica. Today Corsica Ferries links France and Italy with Corsica, Sardinia and Elba - and, for a few years now, the Balearics too. It sails to Menorca only in season, from April to October.
Ships
Corsica Ferries relies on the Mega Express class and its successors - Mega Smeralda, Mega Andrea, Pascal Lota, Mega Regina and Mega Victoria are all part of the fleet. The ships have a vehicle deck, cabins, restaurants and open decks; the Mega Express ferries operate the Balearic routes. You'll see which ship is sailing your chosen departure once you pick a travel date.
Routes to Menorca
Both Menorca routes end in Ciutadella on the island's west coast, at the Son Blanc commercial port. Toulon-Ciutadella is the overnight crossing from the French Riviera, running once a week in season - useful if you're driving from further afield via southern France, as it saves the leg down to Barcelona. Alcúdia-Ciutadella is run by Corsica Ferries once or twice a week as an inter-island link, on the same route as Baleària and Menorca Lines. Outside the season, only the Spanish lines sail to Menorca.
Check-in, vehicles & pets
In Ciutadella, with a vehicle, you need to be at the port 90 minutes before departure; follow the signs to the boarding car park, where your boarding card is checked. During the Spanish authorities' check, only the driver stays in the car while passengers walk through the terminal to board with their own boarding card. In Toulon, at least 60 minutes with a vehicle and 30 minutes without a vehicle apply. Complete check-in online up to seven days before departure; double-check ID details and vehicle information, since a roof box or bike rack changes the category.
Cars, motorbikes, bicycles and motorhomes travel on board, with dedicated packages for camper vans. Dogs travel for a surcharge and stay on a lead with their owner - allowed in certain cabins, areas and restaurant zones, but never alone in the cabin; cats and small pets travel in a carrier.
Tickets
Booking happens through the route page's booking widget; the price is calculated live and depends on travel date, number of passengers, vehicle, cabin and fare. Children aged 4 to 11 travel at a reduced fare, cabins can be added as a package, and the "Time to Think" option gives you 48 hours to reconsider after booking.
