Ferry to Menorca prices

There's no fixed fare for the crossing to Menorca. Each ferry operator builds the price from several components, and which of them apply depends on the route, your travel date and who is travelling with you. Here is what the price is made up of, and where there is room to save.

What makes up the price

The short crossing from Mallorca and the long crossing from the mainland follow the same logic, but place the emphasis differently. On the fast Alcúdia - Ciutadella route, most of the price is the passenger ticket. On the routes from Barcelona, Valencia and Toulon, how you travel on board matters just as much.

Onboard accommodation

On the long crossings, accommodation is not a minor add-on, it is the main decision. Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV) grades it on Barcelona - Mahón from open deck space through ergonomic reclining seats to interior cabins for two to four people and cabins with a porthole, with premium and deluxe categories above those. A reclining seat is the cheapest way to spend the night on board, a cabin the most comfortable. On the fast ferry from Mallorca the question does not arise: it is seats only.

Vehicle, luggage and pets

The vehicle is always charged separately from the passenger ticket. Menorca Lines distinguishes at booking between foot passengers, cars, motorbikes and caravans, while Corsica Ferries has its own length classes for motorhomes. Measure your vehicle once in full: roof boxes and bike racks count.

Without a vehicle, things are simpler. Menorca Lines allows up to 20 kg of personal luggage on foot, and larger items need to be declared in advance. Ferry operators differ on pets. Menorca Lines carries them at no extra charge but requires a microchip, a rabies vaccination for animals over three months old and the relevant paperwork; dogs may go into the designated area on a harness and lead, while cats stay in their carrier. GNV instead offers dedicated pet cabins, and Corsica Ferries books the dog as a separate item.

Discounts that need proof

Menorca Lines distinguishes between adults, children, seniors and infants, and sets its own reduced fares for children aged 2 to 13. Large families get 20% off in the general category and 50% in the special category, with resident status checked through the SARA platform. GNV also lists a resident fare and runs seasonal promotions as well as discounts for families and groups. Corsica Ferries has its own children's fares. You need the proof when you board, or the difference up to the full fare falls due at the port.

Changing or cancelling

The fare determines what a change costs. Menorca Lines allows rebooking up to two working days before departure, as long as the boarding cards have not been issued yet. The basic fare cannot be cancelled, while the flexible fare is refunded depending on when you cancel, minus a fee of 10 to 20%. If you might still need to move your travel date, weigh the surcharge for the flexible fare against that risk.

Where the final price is set

The price for your crossing is only set once route, date, passengers, vehicle and accommodation are entered. Open the timetable first and check which departures actually run on your travel date.
