About Trasmed
Trasmed is the new name of an old acquaintance: the Spanish Trasmediterránea was founded in 1917 and connected the mainland with the Balearics for over a century. In 2021, the Italian Grimaldi Group took over the Balearic operation through its Spanish subsidiary Grimaldi Logística España - hence the GLE in the company name Trasmed GLE. Since then, the name Trasmed has appeared on tickets, booking sites and ships; the line's network links Barcelona and Valencia with Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca.
Ships
Trasmed operates conventional ferries with a vehicle deck, seating and cabins - on the Menorca routes, among others the Ciudad de Granada and the Ciudad de Sóller, and from Barcelona also the Ciudad de Barcelona. You'll see which ship is sailing your chosen departure once you pick a travel date; cabins and vehicle spaces are limited per departure.
Routes to Menorca
All of Trasmed's Menorca routes end in Mahón in the east of the island. Barcelona-Mahón is the main mainland connection, usually an overnight crossing, on which Trasmed shares the route with GNV. Valencia-Mahón is the long connection from the Levante coast, where a stopover can be part of the journey. Between the islands, Trasmed sails Palma-Mahón, around six hours during the day and, according to the timetable data, about once a week. If you're heading to the west of Menorca, check the routes to Ciutadella, which other lines operate.
Check-in, vehicles & pets
According to verified operator information, check-in closes 60 minutes before departure with a vehicle and 30 minutes before on foot; keep photo ID and your boarding card to hand, and with a vehicle, the type, length and height, including any add-ons, must match your reservation. Cars, motorhomes, caravans, motorbikes and bicycles travel on board. Pets are welcome: Trasmed offers pet cabins and areas where animals are allowed on board; the pet is registered at booking, and the specific accommodation depends on the ship.
Tickets

The price is calculated live and depends on travel date, number of passengers, vehicle, onboard accommodation and fare; cancellation and rebooking follow the terms of the chosen fare. Regulars collect points in the Club MyTrasmed, and Balearic residents get the state discount with proof at check-in.
